European Testing Week 2026
Connaître son statut, un premier pas essentiel
From May 18 to 25, Luxembourg is joining the European Testing Week (EWT), a European initiative that promotes testing for transmissible infections and encourages early diagnosis.
Knowing your status is an important step in making informed decisions about your health. Yet many infections can develop without symptoms, sometimes for years. Testing therefore, remains one of the most effective tools for prevention and early care.
As part of the EWT, we are offering free screening tests, without a prescription, with the option of an anonymous pathway for patients who wish to remain anonymous. This initiative is available across all our centres.
The tests offered during European Testing Week include several major infections:
- Blood tests: HIV, Syphilis, Hepatitis B and C
Urine tests: PCR screening for Chlamydia trachomatis and Neisseria gonorrhoeae
These infections are often silent. Getting tested helps you know your status, act early if needed and reduce the risk of transmission.
A European public health challenge
European Testing Week is part of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, which notably aim to end the HIV epidemic and combat hepatitis and other transmissible diseases.
Although progress has been made, early testing remains a major challenge across Europe. A significant number of people living with hepatitis B or C remain undiagnosed, and HIV continues to have a lasting impact in certain regions. In addition, more than 500,000 sexually transmitted infections, mainly chlamydia, gonorrhoea and syphilis, are reported each year in the European Union.
Knowing your status is first and foremost a step you take for yourself. A moment to check in on your health, without pressure or judgment. Through European Testing Week, we want to remind everyone that testing is accessible, confidential and essential to moving forward with greater peace of mind. Getting tested means taking care of your health while also contributing, on your own scale, to collective prevention.
Free condoms are available in all our centres, while stocks last, to support you beyond testing as well.
